Save Our Environment

OUR ENVIRONMENT

Our environment includes the physical factors such as air, water or soil. And all the organism like human being, plants and animals called the decomposers. But the uncontrolled activity of human beings cause damaging the balanced of  our environment.

As we all know there are two types of wastes:

1]  Biodegradable waste-
Those wase materials which can be broken down into non poisonous substance in nature by the action of micro organism are called biodegradable waste.EX= wood, paper, grass, fruits etc.

2] Non-Biodegradable waste-
Those waste materials which cannot be broken down to non poisonous substance in nature are called non biodegradable waste. EX= glass, plastic, polythene etc.

ECOSYSTEM

The ecosystem is a self contained unit of living things and their non living environment.
The examples of ecosystem are : grassland, forest, desert, pond, lake, river, etc.

COMPONENTS OF ECOSYSTEM

The whole ecosystem is made up of two main components: Abiotic and Biotic components.
Abiotic components means non living thing and biotic component means living thing.

IMPORTANCE OF DECOMPOSERS

The decomposers help in the decomposing the dead bodies of plants and animals and work as a cleancing agent of the environment. It is only due to the decomposers that the various elements of nutrients taken by the plants and animals are returned back to the soil after the death of plant and animal.

Q1= HOW DO OUR ACTIVITIES AFFECT THE ECOSYSTEM ?

The activiies of humanbeings like citting trees, burn trees, cause heavy damage in the balanced ecosystem. othet activities like hunting of animals leads to imbalance in the function of ecosystem.
The formation of sahara desert is the ill example of man activities on the balanced ecosystem.

DEPLETION OF OZONE LAYER

Ozone is O3. The ozone molecules is made up of three atoms of oxygn gas. Ozone layer is formed at very high in the atmosphere by the action of ultra violet radiation  on oxygen gas. This is due to the the high energy of  ultra violet radiation coming from the sun splits the oxygen into free oxygen atoms:
                                             O2 - UV radiation = O   +     O

SO,
                                              O2     +     O  = O3 [OZONE GAS]

Ozone layer is very important for the existence of life on the earth because it absorb or reflect most of the harmful UV radiation of  sunlight. It prevents us from cancer because the UV radiation cause skin cancer. The depletion of ozone layer is due to the use of chemicals like CFC [chloroflourocarbon.]

MANAGING THE GARBAGE

The household waste is called garbage. Every household produces a lot of garbage this garbage includes remaining food, fruits, vegetable peels etc. This household waste include both biodegradable and non biodegradable waste.
There are some important modes to manage the garbage are:

1] Recyling

2] Preparation of compost

3] Landfill

4] Sewage treatment.
